Good writer which made the book enjoyable but I felt I didn't like her as a person. She tried to be "one of the guys" in all her temporary positions but snobishness shone through pretty much at all times. Again, she is a good writer so I did not lose patience with the book and finished it.
This is shaping up to be quite an entertaining little series. The Australian setting, an interesting shifter species (I want more details about those dingos, please), and stubborn, sexy characters are its hallmarks. Jacey may have convinced himself that he's straight (though I still have no idea why - his best friend is gay and so are the men he's fallling for), but this doesn't last long. Aden and Fynn have other ideas and they set about convincing Jacey with single-minded shifter stubbornness. While I didn't really care for the way they did it, it does fit with their characters and seems to work for them. I definitely look forward to the next installment. NOTE: This book was provided by the author for the purpose of a review.
Manning is a recovered alcoholic-turned-priest. The thoughts pressed into this book are literate, wise, and gentle. He is principled but not pushy. It really deserves a read. This, coupled with Yancey's What's So Amazing? book, helped me form a concept of grace for my life and the lives of those around me. I cherish it for that.
A buoyant read – Peril discusses some interesting facets of women in higher education: from the introduction of women’s colleges to histories of women’s behaviors and habits in co-ed settings. Geared toward the general reader (i.e. it's not a dense historical text), she includes many amusing details of college curricula designed for women (laundry courses!), sexual mores, regulations for women in college, social anxieties about gender, and so forth.
Very useful information. In my opinion the authors led the revolution for women to start taking back their power when it comes to dating and relationships, and urges women to wake up and realize when they are making a fool of themselves over a guy who clearly is not interested. Women who wonder why they repeatedly make the same mistakes with men should defintely read this book.
